Coming Up Short: This 1966 Chevy Nova Wagon Is Just A Wee Bit Altered…
There’s altered wheelbases, and then there’s this Tiny Tim Nova that reader Nicholas Triplett sent in for our consideration. We are pretty much on the same page when it comes to “shorty” builds like this…we don’t get the appeal. Unless a tree fell dead-center across the car and this was the only possible way to salvage a machine, we don’t agree. But the three of us tend to be a bit opinionated, and we’ve often been told that our opinions are wrong. Take a look at the little wagon for yourself and make the call..
From the ad: “Offering to sell my ex drag car. Now on street, Very low miles on drivetrain, hardly any use since build. lots of body mods from way back when. has altered wheel base, straight ax and a highly built drive train. including a 355 with Dart 202 heads, roller rockers lumpy cam . hooker headers, tunnel ram with dual Holley carbs. built TH 400 trans. built posi rear with gears. chrome wheelie bars, drive shaft loops. Cragar wheels m/t slicks. Roll cage, tach, gauges…..This car hauls the mail. Spots on car are paint chips. . Asking 12k cash sale or make an offer truly one of a kind, won’t see another”

He said he used to drag race it but doesn’t now – probably got in one pass where the suspension hooked and the engine made good power, and scared himself half to death. With a high CG and short wheelbase, that thing looks as easy to control as a Mazda rotary wedged in a Toyota Starlet.

The appearance doesn’t work any better than its high speed stability.

It never ceases to amaze me that the foulest piles of shit in these pages are all Chevrolets….
