Money No Object: This 1963 Split-Window Corvette Needs Nothing! Drive The Wheels Off Of This Sucker!

Money No Object: This 1963 Split-Window Corvette Needs Nothing! Drive The Wheels Off Of This Sucker!

Living in Bowling Green means that I am inundated with Corvettes. Here a Vette, there a Vette, seems like everywhere there’s another Vette. But from a BangShifter’s point of view, they aren’t the right Corvettes. There’s plenty of C5, C6 and C7 models running around town, sure. And when events like the Corvette Homecoming kick off, there’s more C3 and C4 Vettes running around. Unless it’s an early big-block C3, which automatically gets a pass, we have to look at each individual car and see if there’s something that catches our attention before we move on to the next.

Looking at this 1963 split-window Corvette, we know that there won’t even be a question of whether or not it’s worthy. C2 Corvettes automatically pass just on looks alone…far as we are concerned, they are the tops when it comes to looks. But restored, it’s not. The extra taillights out back should’ve given that away. It’s not pretty. It’s not perfect. It’s not restored. It’s rough and mean, just the way we like ’em. The side pipes are cool, the drag radials are cool, and what’s under the hood is icing on the cake.

A 427 big-block C2 Corvette with a four-speed. If that doesn’t do it for you in some way, shape or form, check your pulse, because you’re probably dead. Take a close look at that intake manifold while you’re underhood. The seller claims it’s a legit L-88 unit, and we have to say that if it isn’t, it’s a pretty good replica. Not that we’d care either way…we wouldn’t kick this thing out of our garage for about anything. It’s a blunt-force weapon in an age of scalpels. And we love it for that reason alone.

    Beautiful car.

It deserves to stay in primer. It’s just perfect the way it is.

The value in a 63 split window does not come from hacking it up with wheel flairs on all 4 corners, fact. It takes a lot of work, a lot, to reverse what has been done to this once classic car. The extra light in the rear would also have to be undone. What’s worse is some poor soul might pay what that butcher is trying to get out of it.

In my World it is a Nice contrast to all the shiney originals out there. Im growing more and more tired with polishing crome and only driving when the Sun is out. Having a corvette like this is the Way to go. No worries of getting scrathes in a High dollar paintjob. Or getting caught in a rainstorm. Take it out when you feel like it, and drive the snot out it, rain or shine. Love it

It’s too bad the split window is becoming a blue chip car. Can’t see paying that much money and leaving it alone. If it was a solid window car, the price would most likely been at least 25% cheaper.

For the record, the car is perfect as is!

He’s got a stocker in the garage… this was the fun ride, not the “investment”
