The 1994-96 Impala SS has character, room for at least four adults, the LT-1 V8, pretty much all of the 9C1 Caprice’s suspension bits, a full frame, a tow rating that isn’t embarrassing…are we missing anything? The sporty version of the last of the big Chevrolet sedan is a cult classic, but finding one that isn’t ragged out or modified to fit big chrome wheels is starting to become a chore. But it still can be done, and if this isn’t proof then we don’t know what is. This dark red 1996 Impala SS is sitting in the Colorado Springs area for $2500 on Craigslist, and it almost looks better than we remember seeing on dealership floors back in the day.
The 1996 model is the one to get out of the three years of production for two reasons: the floor shifter/console setup and the fully analog instrument panel are both 1996-only pieces. And the Dark Cherry Metallic color of this Impala is a nice switch from the typical black most of them were painted in. The ROH-sourced wheels look fresh and it’s obvious that the current owner has taken excellent care of the big beast. Rough Start is all about value for the dollar, and at $2500, purchasing this Impala should be a no-brainer. If nothing else, you won’t find a cleaner one for that kind of money.
Easy – spend nothing and ignore this hunka Chevy shit!
My wife’s is for sale (not mine), more money but more mods.

And it’s already gone.
I think I saw that thing sitting at Cheyenne Mountain AFS from time to time, clean.
Wow, that’s nice. I saw one a few years back for $3200, just needed tires, and I kick myself for not buying it
The C/L ad said “flagged for removal”, meaning it was most likely a scam. Car looked too nice for that price. It was too good to be true.
I agree. Doing a search for 1996 Impala SS cars for sale, they all seem to be in the $9000 to $15,000 range depending on mileage.
I owned a 1995 – same color as the one on this thread. Best car I have ever owned.
Agree 100% I had a DCM 95′ and loved it. It was an awesome car until it got stolen. I miss that one.
Had to be some kind of scam, that thing looks mint. For the condition it’s in, you’re talking $10,000 easily, double that if it’s very low mileage.
I tried to buy this one – it’s one of those “I’m serving oversees, it’s on the base in a shipping container ready to ship once you’ve paid for it” scams. Run, don’t walk from this one.
