Remember when you looked at a project car with rose-colored glasses on? It didn’t matter that it had cracking Bondo in the quarters or that the paint was washing off with each pass of the soapy mitt or that the wheels were at least five or six inches into the ground and there was a good chance that the floor had been gone for at least five years, probably more? Yikes, sounds exactly like my first car, the ’76 Camaro. Oh, wait…that’s exactly what it was. But I still had a grand vision for the ragged beater, one that would have it turn into the ultimate street machine. Unfortunately, that car’s life ended a couple of months after I got it, but that didn’t stop me from dreaming.
A 1959 Chevy is certainly worth your time, isn’t it? Those bat-wing fins, the large teardrop taillights, the narrow front end with the faked air scoops…sure, it was a knee-jerk response to Chrysler’s “Forward Look” cars, but what a looker it was, even in four-door sedan form. They just don’t make them like this anymore, and finding good project cars from the later 1950s is already enough of a pain as it is. So why dig through old car lots, spend hours online surfing Craigslist for a suitable builder, or look for something a little more common, when all you need is a hook and a line that can take a little over two tons? Instead of wasting tons of time hunting, you can instead go fishing for this sedan!
The thing is, give it a few years and someone is actually going to take up this offer. From the ad:

In Newburn Hall Motor Museum near Newcastle upon Tyne there’s a 1930s Delage limo that was rescued from the River Aln near Alnwick Castle. It was beautifully restored to its former glory and is now worth hundreds of thousands of pounds. This on the other hand is only good for sheltering leeches and should be dragged out of the river and crushed on general principles….
Could Jimmy Hoffa be in the trunk…Geraldo Rivera…where are you?
I believe that’s a 1960. Having been underwater for who knows how long, it appears to not be toooo bad. Anyone who has restored Mopar B-E bodies wouldn’t even flinch at any rust this car may have.
Looks like a Titanic restoration project.
This is the perfect LS swap canidate, and it doesn’t have to leave its location.
Best comment I’ve seen today!
Man…. Talk abouut being “underwater” on your car loan ;^)
I’d rather have that ‘691/2, Vitamin C orange, A12 Road Runner sitting beside it!!
NO WAY, it’s a 4 door………….
Hey Geordie, don’t all the cars on your little island rot like this?
Was this the Lowrider from the movie CARS?
This is the equivalent of an animated Disney character drowning himself in a bathtub.
What a boat!
