It was apparent from the start of Saturday morning that Mother Nature was not going to play nice for the NMRA. The All-Ford World Finals, held at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky, have drawn in Fords from all over to show off and race, and the fans have come out in droves to see such names as Mike Murillo and Chris “BoostedGT” Hamilton from Street Outlaws. Industry names such as SCT and Holley lined the midway, and Ford Performance was there with several new engines ready to go and a giveaway promotion for a new Mustang or $5,000 in performance parts.

That’s why, even with rain shadowing much of the day, the fans could not be held back, and the racers were responding in kind. Hamilton and Murillo were signing autographs and shaking hands so long as they weren’t wrenching or taking care of their sponsors, and both looked happy to meet anyone who was willing to wait in the long lines. Out in the show field, every generation of Mustang was represented, along with other Ford Motor Company products. From a stock Marauder to Greg Mayton’s Drag Week 1987 Mercury Cougar, from some evil Lincolns to a sinister Mustang II that reminded us of the Gapp & Roush “Sudden Death” car in several good ways, it was here to enjoy!
