Face facts: In stock form, the EcoBoost Mustang is at least on par with a 2005 Mustang GT. For a four-cylinder turbo car, it’s a pretty stout package, and we’ve been curious to see how well the aftermarket responds to the turbo Mustang. Aftermarket companies like American Muscle and SCT have been busy trying to eek out every bit of performance that they can without melting a turbo or windowing a block, and in a way they are in competition for who can create the fastest EcoBoost Mustang. While there are other four-pot Mustangs in the 11-second range, as far as we’re able to tell, FFTEC’s machine is trapping the quarter the fastest. Their claim is that other than wheels and tires, that the car is at stock weight, and that their driver had never driven a rear-drive car on slicks before. Either way, this blue S550 is plenty fast enough, and sounds plenty mean as the wheelman rows the gears.
If the driver could shift gears a little less leisurely he/she’d be close to 10’s.
Too bad it sounds like a Honda tho.
I say bullshit. This is a sales pitch from FFTEC and they’re not telling what has been done to that car.
So there’s an easy 300ft/lbs torque and with that top end charge easy 450HP. What’s been done to the engine?
Yeah, this article leaves out a lot of info. FFTEC posts regularly on Mustang6G forums. They offer turbo kits, engine internals, upgraded intercoolers, intakes, and more.
He needs a line lock to do a decent burnout and get a good 60′. Should be very low 11’s at that speed if he can get a clean launch and hit his shifts. These cars are super impressive when you really think about it. And that Focus RS has the same 2.3 motor with AWD.
