For Sale In Sweden: The Most Customized 1972 Ford Ranchero We’ve Ever Laid Eyes On

For Sale In Sweden: The Most Customized 1972 Ford Ranchero We’ve Ever Laid Eyes On

There are some things that you do not do to someone who is just waking up. You do not douse them in cold water and start screaming. You do not lob a twenty-pound cat onto their stomach and hope for the best. And you don’t greet them by sending them a picture like this. That’s what long-time BangShifter Arild G. did to me this morning. See, Arild is in Norway, and he peruses the classifieds there just like we surf Craigslist here and he found a Ford Ranchero. That by itself isn’t too surprising. Sweden brings in older American cars by the thousands, but the circumstances that surround this particular Ranchero are a bit fuzzy. The customization work screams late 1970s (though the ad says otherwise) from the odd Superbird-ish nose to the roof extension that turns the Ranchero into a four-seater ute. A build like this Ford isn’t for the “why”, it’s for the “why not?”…though, we are still pretty sure hallucinogens were involved.

1972 ranchero

Just in case you needed a reminder of what “stock” looks like.

From the ad, translated via Google:

Now sell my dearest due to changed plans.
It is a Ford Ranchero 1972. Rebuilt in the 1980s by a famous car builder, for the better. From 2 seater to a 4 Very comfortable racing seats.
Oilier screens, fatter Car overall! 🙂
It has been featured on shows and in newspapers. It was advertised for förgasarMärket Predator.
It attracts more attention than any other car I have ever seen!
Engine: 351 Cleveland M (Modification).
New:
Lavish brand new paint job last summer.
The engine is completely renovated.
It has a very good stereo system too!
Want to be seen and to have real fun, then this is the car for you!
Please email for more photos.

Not every customization is for everyone, but you’d be pressed to find someone who is just as in love with the way this Ranchero has been modified as the current owner is. It’s certainly a well-preserved throwback to an era, but is it like a beauty in bell bottoms or more like a guy with a ton of chest hair in a bad leisure suit?

  1. Chevy Hatin' Mad Geordie

Well – run me over with a Mustang!

The most hideous barf-wagon ever seen on these hallowed pages turns out to be a Ford!

My ghast is well and truly flabbered!

This monstrosity should be set alight and crushed with the drooling idiot who turned one of the best looking coup/pickups ever made into four-wheeled vomit. Excuse me while I go and spew up my entire internal organs and my skeleton.

    I’ts been nice knowing you..
