There is always something to be said for finding a gorgeous, one-owner car that has been babied all of it’s life up for sale for a decent price. It’s a rare event and not something to be taken lightly, especially when everything seems right. This 1977 Ford LTD II might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but that’s okay. For the right person, finding a nearly forty year old car that looks day two fresh is enough, and this big Ford is just the ticket. Owned by the same person who bought the car new long ago, the Keystone mags and Goodyear Eagles are the only deviation from the otherwise immaculate Torino Elite Thunderbird LTD II. A dual-quarter glass car, the red with white top looks great and the 351/auto combo is workable, if not the most powerful thing out there. Handling? Find another car, these things are meant to cruise, with suspensions set to soft, easy highway miles. The big Ford’s $5000 price immediately drains the Rough Start account, no questions asked, but really…what could you possibly want to add to this car from the start?

Cue Superfly and spend hours at the wheel dreaming about those bitches and ho’s because with that tiny 351 to pull this behemoth along you won’t be going anywhere fast….
Would that thing even look right if you put small bumpers on it?
Since you showed this to me my imagination has been running wild….it’s perfect and I would drive the wheels off it…and wax the pain off….the only cosmetic change I would like to make is a trim and tuck of the bumpers…I think this would be an amazing candidate for a supercharged Coyote….The want is strong…the bank account is weak….someone is going to get one hell of a deal on this IMO….
427W stroker, an AOD of some kind and 4.11s (maybe 4.88s considering what pigs these are). You’d have 2 tons of fun sniping ricers and modern era guys from stoplight to stoplight and still be able to haul the mail, the groceries and anything else you can pack into that trunk.
My first car in high school was a, 1977 Ford LTD II. Mint Green Metallic, 9in rear end, 302 Cleveland Police package, two door, with dark green vinyl interior.
A 400 would pull that just fine.
