Rough Start: Who Doesn’t Want A Lifted Ford Cop Car?

A 1980s Ford LTD Crown Victoria isn’t the first vehicle that comes to mind when you think about a lift kit, is it? Most people picture a cop car from a bad 1980s cop flick, and the only one that I can think of that has a following is the transformational cruiser from the movie “Men In Black”. The square-bodied 1980s cars aren’t particularly desirable, expensive, or rare. Which is all the more reason to have a little fun with one…you know, the kind of fun that most people won’t have with a sedan.

ltd2There isn’t much to the ad: it’s powered by a 5.0, probably the stock 140 horsepower unit, and the car has received a four-inch lift all the way around. There are questionable modifications, such as the skidpad, “push bar” and the LED light bar, but a lot of that is overruled because I can’t stop picturing the “Trophy LTD” Crown Victoria pre runner whenever I see it. At $2,400, you could spend a hundred or so bucks cleaning up the beast, a few hundred bucks getting the 302 under the hood boosted up to a more respectable level, and a beefed up transmission would be on our list as well. Park it next to the newest Lexus you can find at a shopping mall and watch the panic unfold.

  1. Chevy Hatin' Mad Geordie

Just the thing for the school run anti SUV campaign – go out hunting SUVs with Rammstein belting out of a 5000 watt stereo. Watch those soccer moms run screaming out of their cars leaving their kids and designer hand bags to their grisly fate!
