Australia’s Ford Falcon XR6 is a neat piece. It’s a decent size, packs the Barra 4.0L six as an engine option, as well as having every other reason why we want to import anything from Australia. Think about this for a second: the XR6 was a sporty family sedan. This was what Austraila got. We got the Ford Taurus SHO. Who got the better end of that deal? Yeah…we don’t know about you, but in the mid-1990s, we think Australia won. You know what you’ll never see a Taurus SHO do? Rip a seven-second timeslip at a dragstrip on full boost in full race setup. Nope…if you’re lucky you might see one or two clean examples of a stock SHO, maybe a slightly modified one, and plenty of beat on and rusted out examples. But you will never see one stand up and shoot down the track quite like this XR6. If you can prove otherwise, send us the video, because we want to see that!
Very cool. And you can actually see cars like that on ANDRA broadcasts all the time…maybe the NHRA should take a hint…
cheap and easy to get too… XR6’s in the model shown are under a grand for a registered one, maybe a couple for a real clean one. Then you get XR-8’s as well with 302’s in them – mines an ex cop car 302 and I only paid 1400 for mine…
