A V8 Pinto is nice, as many of you pointed out yesterday, but the second the car starts up any chance of playing the sleeper card is shot. It’s not like a Mustang II…no Pinto came from the factory with eight cylinders under the hood. They did, however, show up with Ford’s very buildable 2.3L four-cylinder engine. The four-cylinder can, with the proper build, eat all the boost you can throw at it. Add a little nitrous to combat turbo lag off of the line, throw it into a light car, and give it enough gear to do something magical, and you will be rewarded with the automotive equivalent of David, ready to hit the track to take on Goliaths. If you want to see how well that combination can work out, watch this beautiful brown Pinto absolutely walk a late-model Coyote-powered Mustang. From start to finish, this race is all about the Pinto.
Not that anyone cares, but Pinto also had a 2.8 V-6 model. Had to pull the battery to change the oil filter. Very few made, again if anyone cares. lol
Pinto FTW…..I would rock that thing for sure. Good looking sleeper early Pinto.
PINTO!
