Some cars just can’t be a sleeper anymore, and the Australian Valiant Charger is one of them. Chrysler Australia’s main Mopar muscle car, the Charger and it’s 265ci Hemi-6 was a well-known piece that could walk V8s easily. So naturally, with the addition of a Garrett turbocharger and EFI, you could expect the Charger to move a lot better than it did back in the day. This particular beast, “SLO 265”, is owned by a man named Brad who has gone to great lengths to make the brown bomber a consistent low-9 second car. The six drinks E85, the car runs on X275 drag radials, and as far as moving…well, it’s Australia. If they have ho-hum cars that aren’t fast, they sure do a damn good job of hiding them. It’s not the roar of a V8 but the wail of this six-cylinder Valiant is more than enough to put a few competitors on edge.
when these Chargers came out the 6 pak ( 3 x 2bbl Webbers) was good for over 300 hp and was the fastest accelerating 6 cyl factory car in the world at the time…
Say what you will, the Aussie “mopar”, small “m”, is a license built GM six. Not interested.
Your ignorance is showing, the engine was developed in the Australians and is all Chrysler and has no connection whatsoever with any GM product.
This is the most moronic statement I’ve heard in a long time! Not only are you “not interested”, you’re also not well educated!
This has always been my favorite Aussie Mopar ever since I’d first seen on in Freemantle in 1993.
that car is freakin awesome.old mopars rule.
