Brian and Chad love a good trar around here, but it takes a bit of convincing for me to jump on board with the idea. Don’t get me wrong, seeing a 1990 Cadillac hearse set up as a southern mud romper is bad-ass, but I’m not so much of a fan of sticking a Camaro on a Blazer frame and calling it good. There has to be something else in it for me, instead. I like my dirty cars rally-style, and outside of a couple of ballistic little Japanese imports, the one that stands out in my head is the AMC Eagle SX/4…basically, take a early 1980s AMC AMX and instead of being a street sweeper, put the 4wd running gear from the Eagle wagon underneath it. Only problem with that is that the Eagle SX/4 was only produced for a few years and the Eagle Wagon looks just a little too Clark Griswold for my tastes.
I’m not the only one, as the owner of this Dodge Daytona decided that up in the air was the way to go. The seller claims Cherokee running gear, so take your guess as to how all of it is under there. It’s all there, though: both axles, the 4.0L inline six, and oddly, the nose clip, dashboard and console setup were added to the Daytona. The car was painted, but I’m not sure how to describe the color at all (at least not in a family setting, anyways), and the whole thing was set on some stout rolling stock that isn’t described. The Daytona doesn’t look too far up, so I’d wager that it’s sitting on 33’s.
The Daytona is priced at $5,000. If it’s done right, you’ll have a fairly useable 4×4 that is a paint job away from glory. If it’s bad….well, you’d have to see it in person to find out for yourself.

Thanks to David Belau for the tip!

I’d wheel it.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but I think it actually works. All I would change is swap out to some stock Cherokee wheels and a metallic blue paint job. Who knew the Cherokee front clip would fit?
I have to agree, I wouldn’t have thought it if you said put a Cherokee in a Daytona, but I think it works pretty well. The Jeep grill in the front just is the icing on the cake. I wouldn’t mind running that through some NY winters.
Awesome fun fact: you could use 100% Jeep parts to put a posi rear, 12″ front rotors, 11″ rear & a 4.7 liter stroker I6.
I’d drive the Holy Spirit out of that thing, just as it sits. Mods listed above, I’d drive the Devil into it.
That is or at really looks like some good work was done to pull that off.
