The kid in you wanted the Road Runner in SubLime Green, with the Hemi, four-speed, N60s and air shocks in the back to kick the tail up just a little bit. The mature adult in you wanted the GTX 440 4-barrel: plenty of power, plenty of looks, but no cartoon bird or obnoxious dress-up kits…or maybe a Sport Fury GT, something that reflected your success at work. What did you end up with? A 1971 Dodge Coronet Crestwood station wagon in plain freakin’ vanilla white, replete with the 318 and automatic. You didn’t even get the cool rally wheels..instead, you had steel wheels and dog caps. Yawn. About the only saving grace was that it was on the same platform as the Road Runner and GTX…everything else about it sucked, right? Well, that was then. Forty-five years later, having a clean Dodge station wagon is an awesome thing, the steel wheels and dog dishes rock (so long as the wheels are wide enough) and there’s plenty of bits available to add some spice to that Crestwood, from the full gauge cluster to the 440 and Pistol-Grip shifted four-speed. Nine passengers? Why not? Shove ’em all in there, smile, and proceed to start ripping gears. Our kind of deal, right here…how many people actually think wagons are still lame?

(Thanks to Mark Lesage for the tip!)
this was one of the first cars I saw on Power Tour 2007 who was also running with a ’69 Nomad wagon w/383, 4 speed. At that point, I was hooked on Power Tour
I saw this at the Street Machine Nationals in DuQuoin two years ago.
i beleive this is an actual factory big block (383 originally), 4 speed pistolgrip wagon! its been around the more hardcore mopar mags for decades! love to see it every now and then… maybe its time to do a dead nuts resto? still, happy to see it!
Hmmmm…. and I know there’s a comment in the forum about how you hate station wagons. Should we start buying you cigars and little sasquatch suits?
I never said I hated station wagons. I said that I disliked F-body Mopars, and that an Aspen wagon, in my eyes, was a parts donor.
I honestly didn’t know that Chrysler made a station wagon on this platform!
How cool would a Hemi Cuda wagon be?
sweet mercy….I don’t think I would be more aroused if I had 4 nude super models wanting to get freaking with me….
Someone buy this for Ol’Joe….you will earn my undying gratitude and admiration.
This car was at virtually every Power Tour I’ve been to! I’ve probably got a dozen or more pics of it over the years. I think man is right, it is an original big block pistol shift car. Can’t remember if I ever talked directly with the owner, but I know I’ve been drooling over this big motha for at least 10 years. I hope she goes to a good home.
This wagon is the shit
I want that.
