Less Is More With This 1955 Chrysler Windsor Nassau – Clean Looks And A V8 Go Miles With This Beauty!

Brian and Chad can tell you pretty much any detail you want to know about pretty much any car you could ever want to know about. Me, on the other hand…well, I’m learning, and that is due to the fact that I’ve only recently started to broaden my horizons somewhere past my comfort zone, which is usually 1965-present with very few exceptions. Sure, ’57 Chevys and Forward Look Mopars have plenty to get my interest going, but unlike more modern metal, it takes something more, an “X-factor”, about a certain car older than 1960 for me to really pay attention. And whatever that factor is, this 1955 Chrysler Windsor has it. It’s not the one-year body that is a kissing cousin to the vaunted 1955 Chrysler C-300, it’s not the 331ci SpitFire polyspherical V8, it’s not even the rare Nassau hardtop coupe shape with it’s minimal (for 1955) amount of chrome.

But put all of it together, slam it on a set of Cragar wheels, and I suddenly have the desire to own a mid-Fifties Mopar that doesn’t look anything like Christine at all. According to the seller, it is an older restoration, which is fine..especially when looking into the beautiful black and gold-trimmed interior. If there is anything we would be in a hurry to change, it would be the PowerFlite transmission to something more Interstate-friendly, but that’s kind of a given for an older car. What this Nassau should be doing is slow-cruising town at sunset, with two glass packs burbling. This is a cruiser and should be treated as such.

That is one nice looking ride! Don’t understand people sometimes, bidding goes up to $11.2K and the BIN is $11.5. Someone didn’t want to shell out an extra $300 to buy the car? Go figure.

Friggin’ slick. Man, I’m not much of a Chrysler guy, but I’d consider emptying out the garage for something like that. This car and the Studebaker Speedster are my favorite ’55s. Here’s a dumb question for BSland. When did Chrysler move over to 12V electrical systems? I’m guessing ’56.

Beautiful. On my top 15 favorite body styles. I would swap the wheels and tires. Probably to a nice spoke wheel and wide whites.
