It’s almost too perfect: a 1964 Dodge, packing a Hemi with a blower, set up to rock A/Gas, so close to being street worthy it’s not funny, painted bright red, with great trim and a stance that screams “drag car”. Someone listens to our prayers about what we’d like to find on eBay…shame they don’t hear our prayers about that Powerball ticket, but such is life. As a drag car, we’re sold, but as a street car, we’d only put on DOT-approved rubber, make sure the lights work, and plate it. Drop the kids off at school in this beast and watch the faculty lose their ever-loving minds! From the listing: 1964 Dodge 330 Sedan. This car used to run A/Gas a few years back with a different engine and transmission running 7.90’s. Now has a fresh milder (my right foot…) 426 Hemi .060 over. D-6 Aluminum heads, 70’s Pro Stock roller cam, 671 Blower 18% overdriven, dual Dominators , and runs on gasoline. Backed by a brand new Hughes 727 Reverse Pattern trans with Brake and 4500 stall convertor. It has a small radiator and is currently setup for track use only. With a little work and a few modifications the car could be made street friendly again. Coilover Shocks and Wilwood Disc Brakes on all four corners. Rack and Pinion steering with tubular A arms. Ladder Bar rear suspension. Trunk is set up for an extra battery and additional fuel cell if you would like to go that route. Mezzier electric water pump with electric fans and coolers for radiator and transmission. Lexan Windows. Body and paint was finished far nicer than your average Drag Car. It is laser straight and fully sanded and buffed. The doors, bumpers, decklid, and front end are lightweight fiberglass. The door gaps arent perfect and the doors sag a bit when opened. It has some chips and touchups from use over the years. Comes with Wheelie Bars and removeable weight bars in the trunk for extra high crowd pleasing wheelies! Car is available turn Key as-is or would consider selling as a roller minus engine/ trans.
Very cool.. all it needs a 5 speed manual and its good to go!
I’d take it just the way it is. Now to convince my wife I need a car that fast.
With everyone making dragsters or race cars out of the ’64 330’s, there’s nothing unique about doing this anymore. It also leaves so few classic vehicles left. While I’m sure there’s a lot of skill and talent that goes into making one of these, I just see it as another opportunity lost.
You might as well use a fiberglass replica body, because there’s very little left of the original ’64 330.
RobSD is right on. I almost commented on this the other day. It’s not a ’64 Dodge 330. It’s a purpose built race car that happens to have a ’64 Dodge 330 shell as a paint carrier. That’s it. There is no ’64 Dodge under this thing. Just like with project “Violent Valient”, its just a shell. There is nothing exciting about this or other cars like it, to me.
Haters are going to hate
Me want
Perfect for hot rod drag week. Haha
When you do it the right way there is nothing wrong with making a car like this into a drag car. Do it wrong, and it’s sacrilege. There are so many of these early 60’s Dodges and Plymouths around Phoenix they are literally going to waste because they just aren’t selling. Not so many that they should be used in a demolition derby but there are plenty of them around if someone wants to restore one. All that being said, this ’64 has been done exceedingly well. She is a work of art and a beast to be reckoned with on the street or on the strip. L O V E IT!!!
