The Trans-Am race cars of 1970 were royalty, and that statement holds up when you look at the values of each version of the Over 2-Liter class. Ford Mustang Boss 302, American Motors Javelin, Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, Pontiac Trans Am, Plymouth AAR ‘Cuda and the Dodge Challenger T/A rounded out the field. If you can’t find one you wouldn’t want to take home…well, we’ve got nothing to offer you. These weren’t silhouette race cars, these were highly modified production vehicles that had all the detail and attention that a race car has to receive in order to be competitive.
With as little focus as there is on it, you’d be amazed to know that Trans Am racing is still a thing, and it’s divided up into different categories, like sports car racing. The class that best represents what the Trans Am racing of yore looked like is TA4, which is a modified production Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro or Dodge Challenger that is set up to mimic NASA American Iron rules, which puts all cars on an even playing field based mostly upon power-to-weight. So what does that mean for a modern Dodge Challenger SRT-8?

No, those aren’t Powerball tickets on my desk. They’re…uh…receipts. Yeah, that’s it. Receipts.
