Land, water, air. We have vehicles for all three elements, but when it comes to making a vehicle work for two of those elements at the same time, the results can be pretty mixed. Can it be done? Of course it can…but usually the vehicle is purpose-built from the start to handle the two elements, not altered from its original state. If you want any indication of what, specifically I’m on about, go onto YouTube and search “TopGear Amphibious Cars” and see just how well that experiment worked.
Which brings us to the battleship-gray Subaru Impreza seen here. At some point in time someone in New Zealand took a look at this Subaru, thought to themselves, “You know what…that would make a mighty fine fishing vessel!” and went for broke. Yes, this Scooby is amphibious. And they even have proof that it does, indeed, float:
Powered by the stock 2.0L flat-four and five-speed on land, it appears that the rear shaft was repurposed to run the propeller. What appear to be cargo flats were used for a bow and …pontoons? It’s difficult to tell with certainty just what is going on, especially with little information on the auction site, but the price is currently $650 in New Zealand dollars (roughly $460 in U.S. money) and the owner certainly wants to sell. Shipping might be an issue for American fans, but we’re pretty sure that shipping between Kiwis and Aussies is a bit easier. Imagine this thing trolling along in Port Jackson on a picturesque day…

for $500 bucks that’s a deal! I don’t know what I would do with it, but the custom beer holders would definitely come into play.
