Some Assembly Required: Would You Be Interested In A Bricklin With C4 Corvette Underpinnings?

You have to hand it to Malcom Bricklin for trying, at least. He introduced the United States market to Subaru and Yugo, and was the predecessor to pretty much the same act that John Z. DeLorean would pull shortly after: create an eponymous car company that would focus all of their attention on a sports car, last for a couple of years until the money ran out, and fall off of the Earth for a while. Nowadays about a thousand or so SV-1 (Safety Vehicle One) vehicles remain, with most being powered by a mix of AMC and Ford V8s. However, one orange one is now up for sale in the Phoenix area that is quite a bit more than that underneath that Safety Orange fiberglass skin.

From the ad: 1975 Bricklin on custom tig welded chromoly C-4 Corvette chassis.
This was & is going to be the worlds fastest and baddest Bricklin!
This is a great project for someone who wants something totally cool and a little different.
There was well over 50k spent designing and building this car / chassis.
All the hard work, design and development are finished in regards to the chassis which is fully mounted to the body!
Items that need to be finished are, floor skin, interior, fuel system, electrical system, plumbing, dash panel, steering column. Any LS engine can be used “no engine”.
I do have some race engine parts – 2 Garrett GT 40 turbos, a new set of All Pro LSW-12 heads 69 cc, Kinsler cross ram intake for LS7.
This chassis is fully tig welded and built with all Chromaly tubing on vette C-4 running gear for an LS power plant!
The body was completely refurbished by Bricklin prior to dismantling it for this project.
All the boby panels, glass, etc are in great condition..
Project needs a good home…

No kidding it needs a good home…right in our garage.

Old Bricklin specs are kinda interesting to look over. 12.5mpg, 103mph, (and no ashtray as ‘ol Malcolm didn’t like cigarettes). Things could use a little updating, for sure. However the spec that applies here would be track width…it would have been very tough to get that wide ‘Vette C5 (can nobody count?) running gear under that narrow plastic Bricklin body and I see this builder’s tactic was to simply not worry about it, making for a very funny-looking car from certain angles. It is possible to fix that, but much of his present work might be going to scrap first.

He actually would’ve been better off with C4 stuff, there’s room in the Bricklin floorpan for a front trans and the width is closer and easier to narrow further, so his whole thing is kinda 2/3rds of a good idea (and I only know this ’cause of working on a C2/C4 conversion lately). But ya gotta salute someone for trying something…

Thanks for bringing us the listing.
