If you haven’t had a chance to go to the Petersen Automotive Museum yet, then please make sure you do that as soon as possible. It’s an amazing place, filled with amazing cars and really run exhibits, in the heart of Los Angeles. It is also home to great events and lots of special exhibits. One of those is the James Hetfield Collection which was donated to the museum last year. James is best known for being the lead singer for Metallica, but if you are a hot rodder in SoCal you also know that he’s a regular at big SoCal car events like the Grand National Roadster Show. His taste is awesome, he has built several very high end cars to enter into competition like the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster class at the Grand National, and he enjoys the process of building them as much as the driving.
He’s built several of his famed cars with Rick Dore, including Slow Burn above, but there are lots of different cars from different builders in his collection. To have donated this whole collection to the Petersen in unbelievable and I love it. I don’t know that I could do it, but I love him for it.
