In stock form, the best you could ask for when it came to the Chevrolet Astro line would be a 4.3L V6 powered, all wheel driver that was good for 190 horsepower on a good day. That’s not too shabby for a minivan from about 2000 or so, but when it comes to true off-road fun…yeah, that’s pretty weak. Now, if you ditch the all-wheel-drive for a legitimate four-wheel-drive system, change out the V6 for a V8, and set the body up a few inches over some stout tires, well, friend…then we are paying full attention to what you are showing us. In this case from a couple of years ago, we have a pretty stout Astro lining up at a tug-of-war in Ohio. Not that I’m a big fan of truck tug-of-war action (I’m not) but I could easily see this beauty tearing up a muddy field then rolling through some decent trails. It puts up a decent fight in the contest before meeting up with a crusty old Ram that has it’s number. What do you guys think, worthy or worthless?
