Ebay Find: This Custom International Has An Oldsmobile Heart And A Look That Was Last Seen In 1992

If I have typed “International” into the search bar on eBay, I’m looking for one of two items. Either I’m searching for the next truck I’m going to torment Lohnes with, or I’m looking for a 4900-based school bus that would convert over into a really decent traveling rig for a decent price. The last thing I expected to see was this custom International pickup up for auction, slathered in a color of Peach Sherbert not seen since Boyd built the Aluma Coupe.

Back in the CarJunkieTV days we used to play the “Violation Game”, where we would pick apart a car based on all of the “wrongs” that said vehicle had. At one point in time we even had Freiburger in on it. And I’m pretty certain that this truck would’ve made his head explode, from the L88-scooped hood, to the cheap grille and headlight conversion, to the Pep Boys rear-view mirrors on the door. The top has had five inches whacked off, and the doors have been converted to suicides with electric poppers.

Not all hope is lost, as there’s some decent parts to be had. Under the hood is a 1970 455ci mill. I’m not 100% which version there is, but let’s assume it’s an Olds motor. The engine has been treated to some port work, a “Lignatti” (Lunati?) cam, and a Holley/Edelbrock upper end. Power goes out through a TH400 to the stock 3.70-geared rearend.

The truck is in Tucson, Arizona and there isn’t anything that should keep someone from driving the truck, at least as far as I can see. You can dare to be different, and it doesn’t get much more different than this Binder.

Does this truck stir an emotion for you? Then click here to see it’s eBay listing while it’s available!

I think this ones very saveable. Lose the Corvette hood scoop and cheesy grille (stock hood and grille and you’re 99% of your way there, I reckon). The chop and door mods look pretty well done, colour you could take or leave but its only a weekend with the spray gun away from changing it. Engine etc is fine, keep that, other than those little fixes (pretty minor stuff at the end of the day) I’m all over it.

I kinda like it, although the grille and hood need to go. Strangely the color doesn’t even bother me. It looks pretty good dropped over those meaty tires and black steelies. I’d make sure the motor was properly brutal and drive it like I stole it.

I’d rock it. Swap the hood and give decent paint. Bumpers and a tailgate and I’d be pretty happy with it. I don’t even mind the grill.

Call me crazy but it I dig it and I wouldn’t change anything, I think it looks evil with the grill and scoop like that.

My daily driver is a 1972 1310 binder this one has cool in it for sure but they drive like a whale in the pains of labor on a good day. However it believe a ih pickup could survive a thermonuclear blast and drive away

I like it. Easy redo really. I’d keep the grill and do some other stuff. The hood sucks but I could live with it. I’d like to see some steelies on it or moon caps.

As Steve Earl said shot coat a primer and hop inside. Chop the hood into a cowl style or flat again hang a bumper on the front and polish the grill and I’m thinking it’s a driver.
