There are tons of vehicles that are up for auction that owners view as done and ready to be taken on with no issue whatsoever. More often than not, you had best do your homework and have a backup fund just in case…not saying that everybody on eBay is lying about what they are selling, but the chances of not getting the whole story are pretty high. But when it comes to this Willys Wagon…no, the only thing that needs to be checked is our bank account to make sure we’d have enough to make the purchase. Oh, this is good. So, so good…
The body and main chassis are still 1953 Willys, but that is where the stock part ends completely. A Mopar 6.1L V8 and Tremec six-speed power the wagon. A 9-inch takes the abuse, rigged up to the rear using Ford Explorer springs and a sway bar, while the front end is from a Chevrolet S-10 equipped with Belltech drop spindles. There are subtle body modifications that you have to really look for to pick up…like the grille, which has had an inch and three quarters sectioned out, for example. The interior is neat as a pin, with good materials used and a large amount of restraint exercised.
We like classic, we like modern, and we like this Willys. Our only concern is that it’s so nice that we’d be afraid to actually use it for anything other than nice day driving…

This is a shining example of a car that has been modified with care and respect. Subtle. good looking and a supreme sleeper. But even though I hate the rat rod look a less shiny paint job with a few rust patches would make it a much more lethal street weapon. Can you imagine passing a “Shabby old Jeep” just for it to downshift and blow the doors off your car. That wouldn’t be the best thing to brag about believe me!
It just needs a fresh paint job to lose that crappy “wood”…
This is what my eyes need after seeing that ‘orrible Jag. It is a sweet sleeper and the bonus is that the Hemi makes the whole package from the same family.
The Jeep was built by Tavis Highlander and his dad. The engine /transmission were brand new . He\’s an amazing designer. His work can be seen @ http://tavishighlander.blogspot.com/
