Yeah, I’m into the weird ones. Sue me. Here’s my deal: I’ve seen tons upon tons of Fox bodies and F-cars. But I promise you…it is not everyday where you see a restoration-sweet Jeep XJ two-door with a blower sticking through the hood up for grabs. Everybody knows why Mustangs get built…it makes sense to. A little monetary input and some well-made choices results in a respectable, quick machine. Who looks at an XJ Cherokee, scratches their chin in thought, and plans on shoving in that kind of power?
Sure, you’ll have the comments about how a GM 350 with a 144 blower is some kind of sacrilege and and how an AMC or Chrysler mill should be here instead, but if you listen to every last opinion on how you should do something, you’ll never make it happen as you strive to please every last taste. So instead of being “proper”, it’s just fast. And on top of it all, you still have air conditioning. It’s the perfect commuter vehicle! The engine will make the power, it’ll put that power to the ground with it’s four-wheel-drive still in place, and it’ll be something nobody will have. This is what a great idea come to life looks like.
I had one of those, same color, same orange stripe, but a 86 with a 2.8 GM 6. Yeah, AMC was struggling.
Quite possible the biggest piece of crap I ever owned. No, on second thought, it was the biggest. The 350 could make me forget about all that and make want one again. I may swap the 350 for a LS just to piss off Geordie though.
Geordie needs to get a life. Theres a reason why everybody uses ls engines and stuff gm engines in everything, its because they make damn good motors. A gm car or engine will always be better than a furd. Mopars are good to but just damn overpriced.
I don\’t know that they are better than a Ford, but they are plentiful, cheap & well supported by the aftermarket.
I cannot see those small Danas holding up well to all 400 horses.
