There are tons upon tons of 1970s Dodge-powered motorhomes out there in the world, and for the most part, all we see are massive engine donors and rolling crime scenes. But one enterprising individual saw past horrifying shag carpeting, that ubiquitous fake wood paneling, and whatever was growing in the mattress and looked straight at the Dodge M-series chassis that underpins the tin shed on top. Available in M-300, M-400 and M-500 levels, the chassis were sold simply as a rolling frame, complete with straight-axle front end, Dana 60 or Dana 70 rear, and one of three engines: the 318 Poly, the 413, and the 440. Get rid of the nasty RV on top and you have the perfect foundation for a medium-duty truck, like this Crew-Cab bodied ramp hauler. The M-500 chassis was lengthened out to a 221-inch wheelbase and was outfitted with the ramp, storage boxes and 11,000-pound winch, among other goodies. The 440 big-block and 727 automatic transmission should be good for everything but fuel mileage and there is plenty of room inside the cab for a couple of friends to tag along for the weekend!
