Watch This Dodge Dakota Drag A Volvo Tractor To Bump-Start It After The Starter Goes Out!

We’d be lying if we told you that we know all of the details about what is going on in this video. We do know that the Volvo semi tractor’s starter completely and utterly kicked the bucket, and that the big rig needed to make it to a shop to get it replaced. We do know that a V8, five-speed second-generation Dodge Dakota was called in to be the hero truck. With a tow strap and a bit of care for the clutch, the Dakota manages to get the Volvo moving fast enough to bump the Volvo into live. But what engine is responsible for the work? According to the video, the truck is a 5.2L powered truck, but that doesn’t add up: Dodge killed the 318 in the Dakota in 1999 in favor of the 4.7L “PowerTech” V8, which, as far as we know, was the only V8 you could get in the truck with the manual trans. Whatever the case..you keep on working, little white Dakota! You’re the hero on this cold, gray morning.

One of the bus companies local to me (orkney islands, north scotland) used a suzuki samurai for towing the buses. It was always thought to be a bit odd since they had a large tow truck as well but never used it

I’ve seen strong men drag trucks with straps attached to various parts of their bodies including their mouths. The secret is to provide an initial effort to break the rolling resistance and the rest is easy.

Many moons ago when I was 15, I visited my local racing circuit and was touring the paddock. I got talking to a guy with a single seater called a Kincraft Buick and he asked my friend and I to give him a push start. I felt really great and pushed like mad, but in my enthusiasm I forgot to notice that my head was right next to a humongous open tailpipe. Of course the next thing that happened was that the car motor suddenly started and a huge ball of fire burst out of the tailpipe and nearly burnt my head off!

So maybe I should have towed it from the front with my teeth…
