Comp Cams has a new Facebook question up asking which you would rather drive. The new Mustang Cobra, or the new ZL1 Camaro. My choice is clear, but that’s because the front of that Mustang couldn’t be uglier and the mod motor annoys me. You can write Coyote on it all you want. Give me the ZL1 Camaro. What is your choice? Let the gang at Comp know! Click the link below and it will take you to their Facebook post. And don’t forget to Like BangShift and Comp Cams as well!

The Camaro is heavier and slower.
The door sills are too high, making the side windows like claustrophobic gun slits in a WWII “pillbox” bunker.
It has huge blindspots that you could lose a school bus in (and not the short bus that most meth-addled Camaro fans rode before they dropped out of school).
The heavy, glass-jawed IRS is worthless for drag racing.
The styling is cartoonish.
The undervalved OHV engine is simply archaic.
The interior ergonomics were seemingly designed by a committee of Ray Charles, Blind Lemon Jefferson, and Stevie Wonder.
The horrible interior plastics are apparently sourced from recycled “Big Gulp” cups and tampons.
In other words, the perfect “whip” for “Bangshift Chad” and other “Government Motors” fanboys.
Make mine the 662-horse Shelby GT500, thank you . . . .
There is ONLY one BOSS and it is the Mustang !!!
Nuff Said

Mustang looks lean and mean like a mustang(horse) should. That other thing looks like a over weight mule. So mustang
Who’s buying? On someone else’s dime I’d enjoy either one. With my own payment book I’d take the Mustang because i like the styling slightly better.
The new Camaro looks like it was designed by a bunch of 10 year old crack heads who’d played with way to many gobots. Only the current GM yo-yo’s could take something as iconic as a ’69 Camaro and screw it up so bad.
If 580 hp appeals to you why wouldn’t you buy the car with 662? That’s the whole point of these two cars. The Shelby is quicker and faster. I can here it now, “I bought the Camaro because um..ah….um I don’t care about speed, I mean who needs 662 hp?
Well, I tend to lean toward the Ford camp, but this morning at Mosport while helping at a 2 day HPDE event I had the opportunity to take some hot laps in a new ZL1. I can see why they are a bit quicker around a road course than a new Shelby, despite having less power and more weight. The engineers have done a wonderful job of making the suspension work amazingly well on that car. So if drag racing or just hammering around on the street is your thing, the Mustang may be the winner. But if you really enjoy the twisties, or think that you want to do some open-track days with the car, the Camaro is possibly the better choice. Really though, let’s face it … they are both kick-ass cars, I would love to be able to afford either!
I like both cars, but I would take the Shelby hands down!
gt 500 all the way 662 hp wow
