When we saw this super cool 1960 Morris Minor on Craigslist, we got all excited. It’s listed for $1100 but we’re pretty sure $850-900 takes this bad boy home. The question is, what the hell do you do with it once you get it there? Gasser? Low, big tire, pro street style drag car? Custom chassis and make it a road racer? We like all of those ideas, but we really want to know what yours are. Keep in mind that if you have too good of an idea this sucker could try and follow us home. That would be bad. Cars are like puppies.
Gasser all the way… Ditch the front seats and dash and get that engine set waaaay back. Call it project “Minor Threat”
Nothing, I can hear it rusting from NJ.
Stock restored body and interior. Entire drivetrain and suspension out of a Saturn Sky / Pontiac Solstice with a turbo.
Super sneaky daily driver.
I drove a Morris Minor in high school. Or my max wedge ’64 Dodge if we bothered to take the slicks off it sunday nights, but mostly my Morris. I’d drop in something like a turbo 2.2 Mopar and five speed and a decent independent rear out of some other brand ricer and have a fast, good handling little hot rod.
Spare me all the v8 conversion talk, that would make it an ill handling pain in the butt to drive every day.
Balance, grasshopper….
Morris Minor pro-street car. Plenty of these raced in 50s touring car racing. Drop in a Fiat Twin Cam, a Vtec Honda 4 banger or a 13B Rotary, five speed box, limited slip diff, tie down the suspension and go terrorising canyons and autocross courses.
I have a 62 Travler wagon…
Gasser… I’d like to see it with a Donovan hemi and an 8-71 huffer with a clutchflite….
Worth Checking out Pete Sinclairs LS1 Minor built by Ross Morrison in Glasgow for some inspiration, its a superb build.

Modern independent suspension, upgraded tires and wheel, Suzuki R1 engine w/turbo in the back.
Go racing!
the LS1 powered one is pretty nice–see above
stock, restored exterior, turbo charged/intercooled 2 liter Pinto 4banger w/5 speed, narrowed 8inch rear. BIG FUN!!!
They sell kits to swap a gixxer motor into these. And lots of gear used for vintage mini’s will fit into these, so I’d probably go that route. Gixxer motor and rally gear.
Straight axle, Halibrands, Hilborn injectors, fenderwell headers, tilt front end….GASSER!
I’m thinking Gasser too, but a little more exhibition style: Aston Martin V8, or Jag V12 with two blowers and multiple SU carbs. Ridiculous meats on the rear, pizza cutter fronts, red plexi windows and a all over union jack paint job, “British Invasion” emblazoned across the sides in funky 60s mod style gold leaf. Man now I want to buy it.
Check your e-mails.
we have a 59 morris minor convertible that we have been working on for a while now. we arm putting the straight axle under the front bumper to make room for the blown injected hemi the is due to go in. THAT SHOULD BE A LOT OF FUN. we cut out the b pillars and cut down the windshield and are in the process of building twin funny car cages in the back seat. I will post some pictures as soon as I can. I am down for the count right now after massive back and spinal cord surgery in September so it is a little hard for me to do anything except turn on the lights to the shop. I think you will all approve. Steve owner at HEADACHE RACING.
