Craigslist Find: A Reader Suggestion For A BangShift Command Center

Craigslist Find: A Reader Suggestion For A BangShift Command Center

Lohnes and I have been going back and forth over a BangShift Command Center Vehicle. I want the overkill coach bus setup so that we can quit staying in crime-scene hotels and can have air conditioning. Lohnes found an admittedly cool ex-school bus with a hot rodder vibe. We’ve gone back and forth on this for a bit, and today we get a third party’s suggestion in the form of this 1968 International Campermobile Crew Cab.

Who wouldn’t love a classic camper truck? Don’t judge the outside appearance too harshly, because the interior of this Binder is sweet! And it should be, with just over 35,xxx on the clock. It’s the stock V8 and four-speed manual transmission, and the back end comfortably sleeps four…which means that the three of us might fit okay. There’s a mini-fridge, stove, and even a can with roses painted on it…which is a rather positive spin on what you should truly expect.

It wouldn’t take much to clean up the outside to be a little more respectable and a little less “Free Candy”, but a sticking point for me is the price. I understand that these Internationals are rare, but I don’t know about a starting price of $10,000. I’d be a little more on board if this had a first-gen Dodge Cummins frame under it with the five-speed manual trans to make it perfectly useable and highway-friendly. As much as Lohnes loves all-stock trucks, we’d have to do better than fifty miles an hour between gigs.

Cool rig, but $10,000 for a 46 year old motor home?!! C’mon, you can do way better for that kind of money. Call Finnegan. He knows where to find cheap campers.

    It’s a helluva start.
Just add Chevy 8.1 / Allison 1000 + brakes. For $15,000 you could be ready to rock.

I doubt the phone is ringing off the hook on this one. For the same money (I know, not the best way to start out, but work with me here) you could get a truck and camper about thirty years newer, and without the inevitable stink of mold and mildew.

A paint job, new interior and a Hellcat engine and it’s ready to go. If you find the Hellcat cost to much use a blown 392 Hemi.
