Hemmings Find: Is This The Cleanest Unrestored 1965 Biscayne Ever? We Think So!

Hemmings Find: Is This The Cleanest Unrestored 1965 Biscayne Ever? We Think So!

You know how much we love station wagons around here, or at least how much Chad loves them anyway, so when our friend Lowell Enloe sent us the ad for this 1965 Chevrolet Biscayne Wagon on Hemmings, we just about died. Surely this bad boy has been restored don’t you think? By the wording of the ad, we don’t think so. It looks like it’s had some touch-ups here and there, but overall this car looks amazingly original. If it was ours we’d throw a big block in it with a T-56 Magnum behind it and drive it like the truly spectacular barge it is. What the hell would you do with it?

The original 250 horse 327 and Powerglide would be a fine way to cruise this big bastard for sure, but we’re BangShift.com after all and I’m feeling a 3rd pedal and big block power for sure. The interior is original, and mint, although we suspect the headliner has been replaced because they didn’t look that good new from GM! Can you imagine a set of big and sorta littles on this long roof and maybe a couple of inches less height? Yeah, we can too. This thing absolutely inspires us to get Chad’s ’66 Bel Air Wagon on the road with a Big Block and a stick. Screw the LS Powerplant or 383 stroker motor idea. This big car needs a big engine and 3 pedals. What do you think?

There are tons of photos of this car, and for $12,500 they will hand over the keys in seconds, but if you want to see them all you’ll have to click the link at the bottom of the page. Until then, here is the info from the ad and some photos to tease you with. Enjoy.

    Like Pete300’s 300, I’d hate to kill the 327 vibe. Maybe a 4 1/8 bore Dart block painted orange…

Hey Chad, several of us live not too far from Sioux Falls. You could trade up the BS Hauler to much cooler platform. Jus’ saying.

i just pee’d a little. I would stab a real nice, stock looking 454 in there. Keep it stock looking tho…nothing fancy.

I’m down with this idea Angry Joe. A simple, clean, not too fancy looking big block. I might even paint it orange, even though I’ve never ever painted one of my engines orange. LOL

Holy crap I want it. That price is a steal. I’ll sell the Chevelle today. Yes on the stock looking big block, front discs, dual master. Big rear meats on steel wheels. Ipod input with some speakers. That’s it. I’m thinking the dog dishes shown are from around ’69 though?

WOW. Nice, but with no air and drum brakes, the big block is gonna make it unruly. But yes, I’d have to vote for a stock-looking 496, and it’ll snowball from there……

I’m not a bow tie guy, but you guys are on the right track. 454 or 502. Stick. Maybe some vintage “396” fender badges. Rally wheels.

327? keep it! Powerglide? trash it! T56 is the only way to go. front disc, dual master cylinder and a dual snorkel air cleaner. That’s it! Everything else is perfect!

  8. Old Dog

409’s were still available in 65. A World Products 500 inch block and Eddy heads all painted to look stock with dual quads would be pretty cool.

why man leave it alone Man it’s perfect just the way it is I love wagons only AMERICAN MADE WAGONS just like this just like this so please don’t doo anything stupid and wreck this treasure of American craftsmanship please!

Keep the 327. Add a 700r4. Add power disc brakes up front. Maybe air conditioning for hotter climates. Done!
