You would not believe how many people ask me about Roadkill. Do I know Freiburger? Do I know Finnegan? Which one is my favorite? Do I know what the guys are going to do next? And that’s before they learn that I appeared in an episode for about thirty seconds when Mike and Dave helped me out in Oklahoma at the end of 2013. When they do learn that fact, things get rather…interesting. I seriously had one guy block the Imperial in at a bank with his truck just so he could check out a clapped-out Mopar that he had seen on an episode. Truth be told: Yes, that’s me and my car. Yes, I know Freiburger and Finnegan. No, I have no earthly idea what they will do past what they tease on their social media posts. And I’m fairly certain that they wouldn’t consult me for any advice outside of me picking something they have never worked on before. Then again, they did buy that Olds-powered Mazda freak show, so who knows?
One car that doesn’t get mentioned that often is, oddly enough, the 1992 Cadillac that is known as the “Broughammer”. Short synopsis: take junkyard Cadillac, turn into four-door targa-roofed thing, replace missing front valance with the oddly well-fitting grille of a 1970s Dodge van, then find one of the most folded-up first-gen Cummins Dodges in existance, yank out the hefty diesel, shove into the D-body and go make some noise. It worked…surprisingly well, in fact. But after the episode, this was a Roadkill car that just disappeared. Until now.
The likelihood of you doing much of anything with this car is minimal, but I’m looking directly at anyone who looks at events like LeMons rallies or the Gambler 500 and wants to bring along something cool instead of a ten-year-old Chevrolet Impala with a rod knock. The twelve-valve that was in the car is gone, but surely locating another shouldn’t be that difficult. Or stuff whatever engine you want into it. Lift it, put it on some 33s, throw in headlights and a pushbar, and get some friends together. The car has already been half-desecrated and was doomed to die in the yard…why not bring it back to life one more time?
Good recycling material.
All but the Mopar grille.
full agreement with jerry z – grind it up.
( first apply a big Motor Trend on Demand decal across the side )
