Did Somebody Say “Dino”? FCA Confirms New Engines For Alfa Romeo, Including A Ferrari-Designed V6

Ferrari is known for their riotous V8s and screaming V12s, but the Dino V6 has plenty of racing credibility of it’s own, finding homes in the Dino 206 and 246 and most notably, the Lancia Stratos. Now, it sounds like Ferrari is going to take another crack at a six-cylinder engine, this time meant for Alfa Romeo vehicles as part of that marque’s resurgence, along with a new high-output four-cylinder. FCA confirmed the plans for the engines, but didn’t confirm what specific vehicles will get the engines. Speculation pins the applications to rear-wheel drive or all-wheel-drive mid-size and full-size sedans that have yet to be named or seen, but the engines themselves are aimed high. The four-cylinder engine is expected to bring 300-350 horsepower to the table, while the V6 is aiming between 400-500 horsepower.

It’s a good step in the right direction, but considering that the we have only seen the Alfa Romeo 4C so far in the States since their return, we will wait to see what happens. At this point, it’s worth watching: Alfa’s ties with Ferrari have always been pretty tight, and seeing the benefits of the FCA merger with our domestic products here, this could become really entertaining. It was the last time Ferrari played with six cylinders…

    Yeah right ! FCA confirms this . FCA confirms that . Which in English means …

    ” Here’s a bunch of bull**** we know you’ll fall for because you are so gullible and desperate that we’ll never live up to … because in fact FCA doesn’t have one single dime/euro to invest in much of anything … new … never mind new engines ”

    So here’s the real scoop . In reality …. the ONLY .. and I do mean … ONLY profitable division of FCA is … JEEP …. and even them .. barely .. with FCA going down the financial drain faster than a whirlpool in a raging river … all while Marchionne continues to spread his madness … in dire hope someone .. sometime will fall for it …. and finally give FCA the loans /subsidies / IPO’s etc they so desperately need . With FCA’s owners .. the Elkann’s .. continuing on with their high flying lifestyles … slowly burning off every penny their family [ Agnelli’s ] worked so many generations .. and took so many Italian tax dollars … to create

    Oh .. and by the way .. just to really make your day … Ferrari falls into the red as well when it comes to …. profits …e.g. … they aint any

    Eco – Va veritas .. Basta .. Ciao mi amicos

      PS; Wanna make any bets assuming FCA does come up with an Alfa V6 that ;

      A) It’ll be a former Chrysler/JEEP/Dodge V6 with a Ferrari emblem on it [ just like the Hemi’s in FCA’s cars are rebadged decade old Mercedes V8’s ]

      B) It’ll have a digital soundtrack/exhaust note

      Bet against it … and guaranteed … you’ll lose … Assuming that is .. any of it ever happens 😉

    I for one am happy, excited, and cautiously optimistic. FCA owns Lancia in the domestic market and a new Stratos and/or Dino would be awesome. It would be really cool to have a Miata/FR-S/Z4 competitor in flavors from Dodge (Copperhead), Fiat (124 Spider), and Alfa (Giulietta Spider) with the Ferrari V6 in the Alfa, V6 and Hemi option in the Dodge, and a riotous turbo 4 in the Fiat.
