If you are a guy who likes tweaking on electronic stuff, and you haven’t checked out DIYAutoTune.com, you are missing out. Not only do they have great products for the do it yourself EFI builder and tuner, but also for guys that have no idea how to get into the EFI world. With great support, low cost options, and one of the largest groups of EFI geeks on the planet, you can’t afford not to check them out. And to help out those of you building new projects, DIY has come up with a great new Billet Aluminum 4-barrel Throttle Body. In black anodized trim, it will look killer on your hot rod. Plus, we have some cool spy shots that we took while visiting Matt and the gang, including what looks like a tweaked 5.0 or 2.3 Megasquirt PNP box, along with one that we are certain fits GM TBI and TPI engines…which also means Turbo Buicks!!! Check out the bottom of the blog item for more information on what we saw!
Here’s all the dirt on the new Throttle Bodies from DIYAutoTune.
DIYAutoTune.com has added a high flow, four barrel throttle body to their lineup to better meet the needs of racers running all out V8 builds on MegaSquirt EFI, or any other EFI controller. This throttle body fits a standard 4150 carburetor flange and flows 1215 CFM. The throttle body uses a progressive opening secondary and inward opening throttle blade to maintain good drivability, and it bolts right up to standard 4150 style throttle linkages. This throttle body is made in the USA.
To make the throttle body look as good as it performs, these throttle bodies are machined from billet aluminum with a black anodized finish. The throttle body comes with a GM style throttle position sensor (TPS) and stepper idle air control (IAC) valve included, as well as a flange gasket. The complete throttle body package retails for $529. For more information, check out http://www.diyautotune.com, or email [email protected].
We snapped the two photos below before we could get yelled at, and we are glad we did. After looking close we decided that the top photo is clearly a DIYAutoTune “Ford” replacement Megasquirt unit. DIY and the Megasquirt world have been working on a bunch more MSPNP “Plug and Play” systems and we think this is one of the newest ones. Based on the original Ford box sitting next to it we figure it’s a 5.0 box for any Fox body or Fox body engine swap. The same box is used in a 2.3 Liter Turbo setup like the SVO Mustangs, and would be perfect for a Ranger or Pinto setup too. We haven’t been able to get confirmation on our guesses yet, despite the fact that the DIY Autotune guys love us. Which means we must be right!!! We’ll let you know as soon as they let us know. Check out the last photo at the bottom of the page too! Cool stuff I promise.
The MS pnp2 that you see below looked like a generic box at first and then we realized what we were looking at. We didn’t even get to pick this one up before being shuffled around, and it looks like it could be empty, but that plug should be familiar to anyone who has owned a TBI or TPI GM product. That also means Buick Grand Nationals and even TBI 4.0 Jeeps would be taken care of with this box. The pnp would seem to be a big deal to pull off with all the available combos, but even if they gave you a headstart on the ECU end, that would be killer. Plus, with all the guys that have already dialed Megasquirt tunes for all these combos, you could have a tune emailed to you and be driving in no time at all! We’ll keep you posted as we hear more. Damn these guys have been busy!
Killer looking TB. People underestimate how helpful these short TB’s are when you are trying to fit something under an existing hood.
