When Allen Frye sent us the tip that Big Oly was for sale on Ebay, I just about crapped myself. Once I realized it was the “new” version of Big Oly, my rectum calmed down but only a little. Technically it’s a 1971 Bronco, which is why it is street legal and SMOG EXEMPT in the state of California which is awesome! With 725 hp I think we could have some fun on the streets of LA. Plus, traffic is not my issue, I’ll find another way around this mess thank you. We think this truck rules, and have said so on multiple occasions. Hell, we’re even quoted in the ad as saying this thing kicks ass.

This “Big Oly” Tribute has a lot in common with the original, since the one that Parnelli Jones drove out onto the dirt in Baja in 1971 was a 2wd, tube chassis, fiberglass bodied “interpretation” of the original. It had lots of suspension travel, no heavy front axle, and it flat flew. It was the original Trophy Truck.

And now you can own this one. It was finished in 2009 with all the state of the art goodies and features an incredible chrome moly tube chassis, 24 inches of front travel and 31 out back, 438 cubic inch Dart Small Block Ford that makes 725 hp and 650 lb ft all on pump gas, Mike’s ‘Glide with Gear Vendors, GPS, and all the other toys. In fact, despite it spending it’s entire life on the show circuit to this point, including being one of the feature vehicles at a new Petersen Museum display on the Baja 1000, this thing is ready to run across the desert. If someone would buy this thing, we would help pilot it for the 1000. It would rule.
