When Jesus “Chuy” Nava sends over a tip or lead for a story we never know what we’re going to get. Imagine our surprise when what we saw was an Ebay listing for a Pro Street 1965 Chevelle. But not just any 1965 Chevelle. This one is one of 653 V8 2-door Station Wagons built in 1965. That’s stupid rare, and even though we aren’t the guys that think you have to restore every car, this one is a little rare to have cut all to hell. But, what’s done is done, so lets check it out and see if we should buy it!

With the fresh flamed paint job there is no way this thing isn’t grabbing attention at the show or the track.
Let’s start with the positives. The paint is fresh, and if you are into getting attention I’m sure this one will do it. Our guess is that this bad boy had some ’90’s paint scheme still on it and the owner decided that the only way he could sell it was to add fresh paint. It has a roll cage in it, and that was a complete shock to us. In fact, it looks like it could have been a race car in a past life to us. It’s got no speedo, but does come with a chute mount in the original California black plate. The “built” 406 makes 550 horsepower and has all kinds of good parts in it. We would swap the heads and put a real camshaft in it and then throw a blower on it. It is pro street after all, right?
Now for the less positives. The interior is a total ’90’s job, and could use some serious attention. The tires and wheels are the wrong size and don’t fit the wheel wells worth a crap. Clearly the dudes painting it had no regard for covering up anything they weren’t painting and so the overspray and crap is everywhere. Slap the guy selling it when you go pick it up for not cleaning any of that up. He must not like money or he’d know that a little cleanup could be worth a couple grand in his pocket. Another bad is the fact that the rear tailgate has been molded shut. This sucks bad.

Toyota buckets and some tweed do not make an interior, despite what we thought in 1993. We were wrong then, and this is wrong now.

There is a lot more tire that needs to be stuff under that fender and/or the backspacing needs some work. They are in way too far to look cool in our book. This can be fixed.
In all honesty there are a lot of things on this car that suck. But, many of them remind me of my own Nova. This is cooler than my Nova in some ways, and I am a sucker for a Station Wagon. I bet Daphne would drive this one for groceries.
Someone should buy this. It can be fixed. I’d clean it up nice and make it the ultimate Pro Street bad ass.
