Ever Wanted Your Own Mobile Shop? This 1984 Flxible Metro Ex-City Bus Could Be Your Jam!

Ever Wanted Your Own Mobile Shop? This 1984 Flxible Metro Ex-City Bus Could Be Your Jam!

First things first: seeing a Flxible Metro in any condition that isn’t a museum piece is pretty rare in it’s own right. The Metro was a problematic design, especially shortly after it’s 1978 introduction as the Grumman 870, when the New York MTA fleet exposed a cracking A-frame flaw that Grumman-Flxible (the company separated and Flxible went independent in late 1983) knew about during testing prior to the introduction. Metros were the subject of several lawsuits, plenty of litigation, yet managed to stay in production until 1995. That’s your lesson on city buses for the day, courtesy of BangShift.

Now, let’s take a look at a particular Flxible Metro, this 1984 model. There’s no doubt that this isn’t your average, ordinary city bus…especially once the custom swing-open front face is opened up, exposing the entire interior of the bus! You might not be on-board with the graphics or the 18-foot-long fins tacked onto the roof, but three-abreast seating up front, storage space, flammable liquid storage, work benches, and more inside. A 6V92TA Detroit Diesel kicked up to 375 horsepower (and who knows how much torque!) powers the beast, the suspension is on bags and can be slammed for car shows, and with a recent service and tires only 1,000 miles old, it’s ready to go. Tons of storage space, a wicked-up diesel, and an air-conditioned place to rest at when on the road, completely eliminating the need for a hotel. Sounds awesome to us. What do you think…could this be a BangShift Command Center?
