I can’t say that I’m a fan of the extended cab pickup, but everybody has an opinion and a right to be wrong…and apparently I’m wrong, because extended cab trucks have been quite popular since they appeared. The idea of having a storage area behind the broad bench seat that used to be little more than the spot for the gas tank to sit appealed to many truck buyers who were increasingly using their work vehicles for other things, like the occasional run to town or maybe as a second family vehicle. Ford and Dodge had no trouble bringing extended cabs to market, but GM didn’t embrace the trend until the arrival of the GMT400 series of trucks in the late 1980s. Prior to then you either got four doors or you did with a standard cab…and prior to 1973, far as I can tell, you just did with a standard cab. But have welder, will travel…someone put an extended cab Chevy together and while the Kawasaki Green paint might not be for everyone, you have to admit that this phantom build looks good…real good.
this is a 1968 Chevy C-10 short wheel base pickup with a 1970 grill, it has been modified to a extended cab, it runs & drives great, it has a 350 V-8, a 350 automatic transmission & 308 gears sitting on a 71 leaf spring chassis, has PS, PB, tilt wheel has new 275 X 60 X 15 Master craft tires on chrome rims, the body looks great, all of the cab mounts are in good shape, the floor pans are in good shape as well, I am selling it to you as you see it in the pics, please do not message me about discussion, I am selling this for my brother.
Extra Info: He used 3 trucks to build this one,the cab has been stretched 17″ with the rear end moved back 5″ to accept the short bed. The paint is 4 coats of GM-12 & 4 coats of Kawasaki 777 with 4 coats of Matrix MS-52 clear on top, the truck has been kept in a garage for the last 3 years & started regular, he is unsure of the millage, do to the fact he used 3 different trucks to build one, but has less than 500 miles on it since he modified it, he has driven it to 4 car shows & won all 4 times, the title is a clear Oklahoma title, this is a good solid truck, he has put a lot of time into it, he doesn’t drive it enough to tie up the extra garage space, so he has decided to turn loose of it.
I like it! My only complaint other than not owning that ext cab is he could have spent a few extra dollars to put the gas tank under the bed.
I agree it’s sharp & interesting but I woulda used window frames from the doors so the ‘quarter’ windows would match and flow with the body lines smoother – cool truck!!
That is a neat truck but far from being $30K neat!
Prior to ’73 all 4 doors Chevy/GMC were GSA only trucks & went to various government entities such as the USFS, local fire departments, military, etc & were not sold to the general public. A 4-door ’67-72 aficionado informed me that a majority of 4 door ’67-’72s went to the Alaska pipeline project & if you want one, Alaska is where you’re most likely to find one.
I grew up in Colorado & for a time in Steamboat Springs at the Nordic Lodge. Our house backed up against the Routt National Forest main office & I saw a lot of 4-door Dodge D-series & ’60-’66 Chevy/GMC crew trucks. Don’t recall seeing any ’67-’72 4-door Chevy crew trucks or any Fords.
$30K? Not likely.
Any picks of it in bare metal?? no? why?…….because it’s another adventure of “Mud Man” fueled by Budweiser!!! – hey where’s my buddy – Chevy Hating Mad Geordie at?? He’d love it!
