JUST A VAN: This 1995 GMC Vandura Is Low-Mile, Clean, And A Former Surveillance Rig!

JUST A VAN: This 1995 GMC Vandura Is Low-Mile, Clean, And A Former Surveillance Rig!

It’s not everyday that we look at an older cargo van with interest. Normally these things are worked to death and immediately crushed to make the metal parts for your kid’s next electronic must-have, or they are one of those super-stuffed conversion vans that tend to be filled with every allergen known to man and a hint of mold, just for good measure. For the most part…nah, we’re good. We’ll scavenge the engines and send the rest away. But this 1995 GMC has our attention. It’s super clean, but super basic too. And low-miles, you say?Well, damn, this thing hasn’t even started living life yet! The story on this Vandura is even more exciting that finding a last-year G-series van in this kind of condition: this is a former surveillance van from somewhere in the Chicago area. We have trouble believing that nobody on any block wouldn’t notice the super-clean cargo van just sitting in the same spot for a few days straight, but that’s just us. Surely someone would’ve noticed the periscope peeking out of the rear vent in the back of the cargo area. That’s yours to have, too…it’s still back there!

Outside of a tiny rust spot and the dent on the slider door, this is about as good as a G-series van gets anymore. The 5.7L Vortec and 4L80E will do fine and that long bench in the back looks like a great place to rack out for a few hours’ nap. That whole “BangShift Mobile Command Center” thing keeps popping into mind every time we scroll through the pictures…

T i 454 or 350 was as good as it got. Lotta 350 1 tons got saddled with a 4l60e instead of the heavy duty 4l80e
