Full disclosure, I know the guys selling this car. I get no commission, no cut, no nothing, from the sale. What I get instead is the feeling of jealousy that is enveloping me right this moment as I think about someone new driving this absolutely bitchin hot rod around. What I get, is the scheming in my head that says “Dude, buy a lotto ticket! If you win, we can be driving this sucker this week!” In other words, it is highly unlikely, no nearly impossible, to think that I will be parking this one in my garage. But I would if I could. I’ve always loved the 1958 Chevy, and this one is extra special.
With only 31,800 original miles, it’s hard to imagine that this 1958 Impala spent more than a minute of it’s life outside of Southern California. Ordered and sold at Bates Chevrolet in Arcadia Californa when new, it even comes with the original sales invoice, original title, owner’s manual, warranty card, and more. It was ordered with some interesting options back in 1958, including a 280 hp Tri-Power 348, 3-speed manual trans, and Positraction which is a clearly identified option thanks to the Positraction emblem on the dash. Ultra rare right there, and oh so cool.
When still new, the owner actually customized this sucker just a bit as well, having the air cleaner and glove box door chromed. Seems like a slightly odd combo to chrome, but we’re down since the original owner did it.
The original paint still shines, the interior looks great, and almost all the parts on the car are original including the shocks, wheels, etc.
No matter how you slice it this is one kick as hot rod. We only hope the new owner takes care of it as well, although we hope he or she drives the living crap out of it and puts the next 31,000 miles on it much much quicker.

Hate to say it, but its too nice and original to use. Belongs in Petersen museum. If you can afford this one buy 2 so you have one to drive with clear conscience.
Cars should be driven, not preserved like jam. Nice to see but get some miles on this car. Whats the fun of having a car if all you do is wash it and dust it?
