Your neighbor up the street just dropped seventy-something thousand dollars on a brand new Ford that does everything but please him as he drives down the Interstate. Around the block, you have the redneck ricer with the Cummins-powered Dodge with the trashcan-sized exhaust and the stickers that reflect his choice in trucks and poor public decorum. Trucks are status symbols (annoyingly enough) and just like minivans, station wagons and even the musclecars that we love, there’s a bit of posturing involved with what you drive, whether you agree or not. It happens…it’s about as pointless as anything gets, but if you have to play that kind of game, shouldn’t you play to win? Of course you should. That’s why this 1989 Chevrolet is the perfect choice for the truck lover looking for a new ride.
The ad says C-6500, the badges say C70, and nowhere does it say Kodiak, so you can just flip a coin and call it what you want. Either way, there’s no mistaking the styling that first appeared in 1973 for the heavier Rounded-Line trucks. One thing they didn’t come with from the factory was a dually bed and a pickup-truck configuration, but as we’ve known for years around here, there are people who love the super-sized truck look. The 454ci big-block under the hood should have enough grunt to haul things along, though we have to be honest, if there was ever a candidate for a diesel swap, you’re looking at one. The interior will be pretty much as you’d expect in a 1973-91 GM truck product, and you won’t need a CDL to drive it.
You can almost hear the paraphrased words of Paul Hogan now, can’t you? “That’s not a truck…this is a truck!”
Another Chevy I actually like!
All it needs is a huge lowering job and some proper wheels and tyres as it looks like a five year old’s drawing of a truck – and that redneck ricer exhaust HAS to go!
BMT…you went and did it again putting temptation in front of Lohnes. Can you imagine what poor wife Kerri is gonna hear…” Oh please, please, just one more toy!” ” The boys would love it…it would be a father /son thing! ” Your a cruel man Mc Taggart! 🙂
*shrugs*
I agree with the English guy, just a few adjustments and this would be the coolest truck in town. I have actually imagined something like this, it’s one of my favourite truck front ends of all time and it’s put together nicely
That thing is a set of tracks short of a tank!
I like the idea and execution, but having driven one of these trucks, they ride like the axles are welded to the frame. It’s worse than a 5 ton or a deuce and a half. I must be getting old or something.
