We said before the rally that we’d find plenty of jumps and absurd sideways action from Rally Finland and we think might have found the video that gives the merest suggestion at the Finnish rally’s epicness. Citroën driver Kris Meeke set the record for the fastest-ever rally with an average speed of 126.8 kph over more than 330 kilometers of timed stages. That’s absolutely bonkers pace in a rally that is almost entirely tree-lined gravel with kidney-bruising jumps littering the 24 stages. Since a rally is spread out over so much distance with spectators only in certain areas, it’s hard to gather just how properly intense Rally Finland is, but Tor Andre Børresen’s YouTube channel might have gotten it right.
When a rally video is 16 minutes of jumps and corners taken sideways at what certainly looks like ludicrous speed, you just start to understand the depth of Rally Finland’s awesomeness. The unceasing jumps are a big part of the fan appeal, but so many of the fast panning shots have the car in and out of frame before you can even start to think “That’s mighty quick for a 45-degree bend in a gravel road.” Sit back and enjoy the 2.0-liter engines’ buzz echoing through the Finnish trees before liftoff from the rally’s yumps.
Can’t believe nobody has anything to say about that 16:42 of action?!?!
That was awesome!!!
