The Goodguys 11th Meguiars Del Mar Nationals near San Diego featured everything you would expect in a California Car Show. Sun, fun, surf, hot cars, hot girls, and killer racing action were all on hand at the 2011 Del Mar Show, and we’ve got photos to prove it. BangShift contributor Scott “Rebeldryver” Liggett shot photos like a mad man while BangShift Chad yammered on the mic over at the Autocross all weekend. We know you’ll enjoy the photos, but there was definitely more than good cars to look at this weekend.
The Goodguys Autocross series was in full swing as Del Mar was our 3rd Autocross Event of the 2011 season. Longtime BangShift supporters, and Goodguys Autocross Sponsors, Ridetech and Optima Batteries were on hand showing off their wares and having a blast out on track. Ridetech’s Bret Voelkel wheeled their bad ass 1969 Mustang to a 3rd place overall finish for the weekend, and was having a riot. Full Autocross Results are at the bottom of this page.
This year also marked the first time that the Goodguys Editors Challenge was held at Del Mar, and 16 of your favorite magazine and online editors showed up to participate. We gave it our all, and had no laps before the actual competition. We did good, and finished 4th overall behind former Editors Challenge Champions Nick Licata and Jeff Smith. But it was Camaro Performers Associate Editor Mary Pozzi who killed it and took home the win.
