2016 NMCA/NMRA Super Bowl Gallery: The Second Round Of Saturday Action!

After the frustration of dealing with the uncooperative weather on Friday night, we were hoping that Saturday’s racing action at Route 66 Raceway would go smoothly. It didn’t go as well as teams would have hoped. Dina Parise Racing was apparently not on good terms with “Stella”, the team’s Cadillac CTS-V Pro Mod. Twice, the Caddy rolled into the burnout box sounding as wicked as ever and twice, the car flat refused to perform a burnout. The team was spending the better part of the day not on the strip, but in the pits, trying to figure out whether the issue was related to a timing misadjustment or something more. Meanwhile, Xtreme Street racer Henry Lee went on a hellish ride when his Mustang got upset after throwing the parachutes out, sending the car into the wall at over 176 miles an hour, which erupted into a fireball. Lee was able to get out of the crash with only bumps and bruises. Then, just to put an exclamation point on the day, Dave Grainger’s Top Sportsman Henry J had a nitrous backfire that sent the hoodscoop into low-earth orbit and McTaggart dropping onto the deck, camera and all. And the 2016 NMCA/NMRA Super Bowl was only halfway done!
