I saw one part of Woodward Avenue: the intersection of Woodward and Orchard Park in Pontiac, just north of the Amtrak station. That’s it. I did not see Detroit. I did not see the eight-lane sections of M1 stuffed to the brim with cars. I did not go to Roadkill Nights. I did not make my pass up and down the drive…in fact, if it weren’t for the fact that the MSHS parking lot proved to be a pain in the backside to get into, I wouldn’t have driven on Woodward Avenue at all. I’ve been told that I was in the wrong area to see what Woodward was really like…honestly, I think I was in the wrong time and that I’m too young to truly appreciate the real meaning behind why Woodward Avenue is so great, but I also agree with what a lot of people have said: I didn’t see what the Dream Cruise truly can be.
Keep that in mind as you go through our final gallery from the 2016 Dream Cruise: I wasn’t there at the right time, the right place, or the right venue. Yet, you can see for yourself the kind of iron that was rolling by. If the Dream Cruise is on your list and you haven’t gone, go. You owe it to yourself.
