Don The Beachcomber is a bar that is not only famous in Southern California, but also on Waikiki Beach, and is credited with being the first Tiki bar ever. Sure it’s not in the original location down on Hollywood Boulevard, but it’s still Don The Beachcomber and that means that no place could be a better setting for a super cool traditional/rockabilly type show called The Tiki Highway. Not only were there cool cats, and cool cars, at this weekend’s Tiki Highway show, but also music, food, drinks, tiki artwork, live tiki carving demos, and hula dancers. Where else do you get all that at a car show?
The only bad thing with the Tiki Highway Show is that The Beachcomber has a pretty small parking lot. The good thing about that is that this show is all based on preregistration. No drive-ups allowed. That means that the cars in attendance are all pretty good with little or no rif raf. We dig this show, love the venue, and recommend you stop by Don The Beachcomber even when they’re not having the car show. You’ll dig it. We do.
Last week we commented on cool flames on a '49 Ford at the Syracuse Nationals show and how much we liked them. They have nothing on these. Wow
From mild to wild, it was all here at Don The Beachcomber for the 2nd Annual Tiki Highway Cruise and Show.
Our buddy George owns this truck and it's the very first thing he ever flaked. We are talking five gallon buckets of flake on this bad boy and we dig it. It's not perfect, but it's cool, and he drives the wholy crap out of it.

The wife and I go to Don the Beachcombers regularly. It’s my favorite bar/restaurant. We had planned on driving the 57 wagon out there, but wife wasn’t feeling good so we stayed home. Bummer.
