The demolition derby might have been cancelled, but with all of the rides to see at the 2016 Redneck Rumble, it really wasn’t missed by a first-timer. Rows upon rows of some of the most drool-inducing rides, show quality to rat rod, were present and accounted for, and even in the warm spring sun, we were moving like idiots from one car to the next, checking out swap meet tables filled to the brim with all sorts of bitchin’ items, and avoiding the traffic…we can’t recall the last time we saw so many minibikes puttering around one location, and that includes pit bikes at a drag race! As we walked along with our shutter snapping, the sounds and smells would interfere: the sound of a huge diesel-powered rod as it idled it’s way up the line, a burnout in the far campgrounds, the smell of deep-fried Oreos, French fries and sweet tea wafting on the breeze. The only bummer from the show, aside from the lack of a demo derby, was the fact that we were forced to miss the first day. Redneck Rumble is a two-day affair, and we only saw half of a day’s worth of what was going on!
