Hot Rod Magazine’s Power Tour 2019 Stop At Kentucky Speedway: Our Final Gallery!

The true goal of going to the Kentucky Speedway stop of Hot Rod Magazine’s Power Tour 2019 was to get photos for galleries for you to enjoy. Seriously, that’s all I had planned…shoot pictures until the battery in the camera ran dry or I was dancing on the line between dehydration and heatstroke, then head home. (That’s a joke, people…I’m ok, I swear it.) But what actually happened to the day? Really, truthfully…it was about people. Power Tour is always about people. The cars are just the vehicle (no pun intended) in which they come together to celebrate the sickness we all enjoy every minute of. A broad spectrum of cars should be expected at Power Tour…everything from a flip-body Bug with V8 power to a drift-ready Toyota AE86 Levin to…well, I never thought I’d see a slammed Ford C-series fire truck in my lifetime but there it is! You will never hurt for cool cars to check out on a Power Tour.

But the people…names that I’ve only known through YouTube became people I was shaking hands with. People I’ve only seen at racetracks are out roaming America. People that didn’t really know each other until they all joined this merry wagon train of machines were suddenly getting together for camaraderie and conversation, for idea sharing and brainstorming, and for suffering in company together. We’ve heard all of the negative chatter that has surrounded this year’s Power Tour, and here’s where we stand: the only proper gripe involves those with stolen cars. That sucks seven ways from Sunday and we hurt for everyone who lost their hard work to some shitbag thief. But if the rain, or the traffic, or the wear of constantly polishing up your possession is taking it’s toll on you, stay home. Seriously. It’s a road trip…your beauty is going to see road grime, mud, and it isn’t like you can control the weather. Roll with the punches, take what you can get and go see the USA from whatever you own. You owe it to yourself.
