Street Car Takeover At Beech Bend: Shut Up And Line Up On Saturday Morning!

Street Car Takeover At Beech Bend: Shut Up And Line Up On Saturday Morning!

Friday night’s roll racing was fun to watch, but being fair, it wasn’t that perfect. You could blame an unprepared surface, the lack of a straight shot onto the track, or how some competitors straight-up ignored both the 40 mile-per-hour roll speed, the green light from the starter, or both as they went for broke down the strip at Beech Bend Raceway. Whether or not that’s the name of the game, that’s up to you to determine, but Saturday’s action was all about the quarter-mile. Whether you were down to see the LSx-LTx vs. Modular class, the 11.0 Daily Driver class, the Stick Shift group bashing gears down the quarter, or were just waiting for the burnout contest to kick off later in the day and were checking out the rides in the car show, if you weren’t entertained, chances are good it was because you weren’t there…or, you were one of the few who got mad when the Christmas tree blew a fuse after the second race, complained, and went to get your money back. Your loss, because the racing only got better and better as the day went on. 11-second Hondas, stretched Hayabusas, supercharged late-model Mopars, Camaros on nitrous, and more were leaving their mark on Bowling Green in the most appropriate location possible: the first third of the track past the starting line!
