Trucks have been vital to Midwestern families ever since horses started being replaced by automobiles. A car could be considered a luxury, but a truck could be considered a useful tool, and as such were easily justifiable. While we bemoan the days of the luxury pickup truck that currently exist, we do look back fondly on the utilitarian beasts that came before, so when Somernites Cruise’s staff announced that the season opening show’s theme would celebrate trucks, we made sure to pack the camera and make the haul out. We’ve seen some awesome trucks show up at previous Somernites Cruises, but to put out an open invitation for anything with a bed brought out some of the most jaw-dropping workhorses in the area. We even found a truck we’ve featured before, the “Hustlin’ Hillbilly” 1946 Chevrolet truck that was formerly owned by Jensen Masters, making it’s first appearance with it’s new owners! Hot rods, restorations, lifted deals, military trucks…it all was here!
