Flying The BangShift Flag! Hot Rod Drag Week Racers Full Of BS In Hot Rod

Flying The BangShift Flag! Hot Rod Drag Week Racers Full Of BS In Hot Rod

(Photos of Photos by Hot Rod Magazine) It’s always cool when we go to a race or car show and see someone with a BangShift decal on their car. We’ve been lucky enough to have them on NHRA Big Show Funny Cars, A-Fuel Dragsters, Pro Mods, Nostalgia Funny Cars, Gassers, Altereds, and every door car known to man. But the dudes on Drag Week are my boys. So seeing their cars in the pages of the latest Hot Rod Magazine, which has all the Drag Week coverage in it, makes me smile a lot.

Unfortunately we weren’t allowed to cover Hot Rod Drag Week presented by GearVendors this year, like we have in years past. But last night while walking through Walmart I decided to hit the magazine rack and see what was there. When I saw Hot Rod I opened it to quickly scan the Drag Week coverage and saw several of our regular BangShifters running BangShift Decals. It was awesome. So here is to those dudes, and all the BangShifters that were on hand racing. Even if you didn’t have a decal it’s cool that you support us each day.

In no particular order:

Mark Sussino, aka Slimbo, gets the wheels up award in his cool gold Pontiac. This car is way quicker than it should be, and it’s super clean. We dig it Slimbo. Excellent job getting the BangShift decal into Hot Rod. We appreciate it. Slimbo finished 3rd in Street Race Small Block Power Adder with a 9.92 134 mph average.

Bill Fowler, who is not only an epic supporter of BangShift.com, but also one of our very close friends, not only wins the BangShift burnout award, but also gets serious props for running his Street Race Big Block Naturally Aspirated Mustang with the top down and a straw hat on. Go Bill. Bill won the class with a 9.94 140mph average. That’s hauling ass in the big Mustang.

The Satterlee brothers, Steve and Gary had a pretty good Drag Week, finishing 1st and 3rd respectively in their classes while running BangShift decals. Steve won the Super Street Big Block Naturally Aspirated Class with a 12.01 average, but ran as quick as 9.91 during the week. He had a couple troublesome days, but you have to finish to win and he ended up being the only guy in the class to finish. Gary finished 3rd in Street Race Big Block Power Adder with a 12.22 average for the week after having some issues as well, but overall the brothers did good. Congrats guys.

Honorable Mentions:

Major kudos to our boy Jeff McConnell, Team Mc leader, who’s 9.95 average was enough to take the Super Street Small Block Naturally Aspirate win despite tearing into the motor a bunch to keep things alive for Day 6 of what is supposed to be a 5 day race. Jeff’s Malibu may be simple, but it is stupid fast and we dig it.

James McEntire, also part of team Mc, took home the win in Pro Street Naturally Aspirate with a 9.26 139mph average but ran well into the 8’s on a couple passes as well. And people say Pro Street is dead! We don’t agree. Congrats Doc on getting the Seered Camaro in the winners circle.

Eric Yost, a great BangShifter, also took home the win in Pro Street Power Adder with a 7.86 at 178mph. Eric rules and the Dirty Bird Firebird owned it once again.

Larry Larson doesn’t run decals, but he wore his BangShift shirt proudly during the week which we appreciate. Larry even had it on during some of the recent Hot Rod TV episode highlighting the Unlimited Class. Great job and congratulations to Larson for the win again.

Also major kudos to Jeff Lutz for running the fastest pass in Drag Week history. What a great job and a great competitor. Jeff and Larry have a great friendship and great rivalry that we hope to be a part of someday. Keep it up Jeff.

Todd Berry, Rich Pedraza, Mike Roy, Vince, Bubba, Bob Perrine, Paul Whalen, Todd Maschmeier, Tom Hogshead, Joey Grier, James Pringle aka BBR, and all the other guys we have forgotten deserve big thanks and congratulations as well. You guys rule and we appreciate the support.

I don’t think the famous Silver Buick made the HRM photo spread, but Bangshifter Randall Burns did get a photo credit . . . .

=D Thanks. Squirrel sent me a picture of the credit. I too am waiting for the magazine to show up.

As much as HRM would like to down play BS involvement in Drag Week (Could be more the corporate suits than the editors); they can’t deny that more 60% of the participants are members here at BS.

It was great seeing all the BS’ers at DW this year. Its always fun to put faces to acreen names. The list of great BS’ers goes on and on, Michael (racingcritters who rode with Randall, New York Bob 1956NY150, Mopar Billy, Moparman63, Milner351, Green Xpress, Wacky Mick, Bamfster, Beags, BlueCuda340, Quick 52, Poison Gas, LUN40119 another class winner, and dozens of others .

It really was BS event. I hope the magazine eventually shows up.
